Demon

Lifespan: Limitless, though they can only linger on the mortal plane for a certain amount of time, ~500 years before they must return to their hell for a time. (Can be killed, but will reform back in the seven depths of hell eventually)

The definition of Demon is somewhat hard to explain; only because this race is particularly insular, keeping secrets from others and even each other. But there is much info to be had...

Demons, as a species, are concerned in the meddlings of others-- for the benefit of no one but themself. They may have morals, but only as much as to protect themselves and their interests. Demons are creatures of anarchy, free thought, and self serving desires; a demon might sow seeds of gossip to get you fired, or mess with a lottery to ensure you win. It all depends on your definition of 'Evil', a word with a most nebulous meaning.

Their influence has been strongest amongst humans, as demons - and their counterpart angels - were most used for influencing humans during the wars between them and supernaturals. Many demons enjoy taking religious iconography as their own; or, they may buy into the beliefs of their religion, spreading the influence of what they believe to be corruption. It all depends on how you see them... A demon might be the most honest creature you ever meet, tasked as they are with the spreading of selfish desires!

Race Appearance:

A demon can take on many forms-- traditionally they will take on any set of looks that they think will afford them the greatest influence. If appearing as a horned goat with glowing red eyes is what makes you give them offerings, then that is how they will appear. The demon may decide to appear frightening, or powerful, or beautiful, using which ever traits needed to accomplish this. Often, they take on traits indicative of their cultural background and place of origin.

Basic Abilities

Infernal Senses

When present on the mortal plane, all Demon’s senses are heightened to almost superhuman degrees. Also grants the Demon the ability to sense the presence of other supernatural beings around them, detecting whether they are mortal or not.

Corruption

The Demon possesses the ability to detect whether a being is ‘good’ or ‘evil’; allowing the Demon to gravitate towards the ‘good’ and learn how best to work at corrupting their soul.

Fearsome Aura

Every Demon possesses the unique ability that can cause an unsuspecting victim’s fears to amplify, this also allows the Demon to cause another being to be afraid when focussed.

The Shadow of Hell

Demon’s being from a dark realm can manipulate shadows to their will, summoning them from even the tiniest shadow present.

Ephemeral Form

A Demon has the ability to fade into almost nothingness, becoming a mist or fog or even just a shadow on the wall for a time. This allows the Demon to get into somewhere it normally would not be able to or listen in on something people might want hidden.

Infernal Smite

The Demons have the ability to focus their infernal power into a strike dealing more damage in that single strike than would normally happen. When this is applied it acts as if the weapon they use is a weakness to whatever they are hitting. (4/day)

General Abilities

General Weaknesses

Pure Salt

WIth lines drawn or circle around the Demon pure salt can and will harm them. The harm is in the form of burning the skin. If it should somehow be ingested then they find themselves falling ill to the point of vomiting.

True Name

Every Demon possesses a True Name that grants complete power over the Demon. Should another learn it, they could use it to command the Demon and additionally summon them as needed. To give a True Name to another is the ultimate sign of trust.

Banishing Sigil

A sigil that is able to banish the Demons from the mortal plane. Causing them to dissipate in a sense and be ‘teleported’ back to their realm of origin.

Racial Tidbits

Food

While on the mortal plane, the Demon is able to eat whatever they wish, though they do not gain any sustenance from said food.

Forces of Corruption

As beings of corruption, Demons are inherently forces of corruption. This makes it so they are likely to drag those around them into being a bit darker and performing more acts of evil.

Prophetea

Historically, those with Prophetea were considered an oracle. Those with Prophetea can use any method they wish to divine the future. These are the individuals who are most likely to receive visions, or warnings,  of present or future events.

NOTE: When doing readings for other players, CONSENT is paramount.

The ONE exception to this rule is when those with this ability receive Storyteller visions regarding another player.

- All players with the Prophetea ability will receive visions from the storytellers at random times.

- In the case of Sim-wide plots, those with Prophetea may, upon receiving Storyteller visions, submit tickets for additional information in the form of visions.

- All those with Prophetea may request visions for individuals they are doing readings for from storytellers.

- All those with Prophetea should discuss the potentials of their reading with their partner– ask permission, and get details the player is comfortable with sharing in a scene. If you are struggling, seek out a Storyteller.
