Angel

Lifespan: Limitless, though they can only linger on the mortal plane for a certain amount of time, ~500 years before they must return to the heavens for a time. (Can be killed, but will reform back in the heavens eventually)

The definition of Angel is somewhat hard to explain, but throughout the centuries this race has heartily specified, in both long and short terms;

Angels self-identify as a creature that believes in the power of morals and goodness. They strive to help others in whatever way they believe is right, and they work with the world around them to bless others with their just light. That 'justness' can take many forms; a winged helper doling out soup at the local kitchen. Or perhaps a haloed general in an army colonizing a poor country with a culture they believe is better. Good as a concept is subjective, and across many cultures and countries, this has clearly come to mean different things.

Their influence has been strongest amongst humans, as angels - and their counterpart demons - were most used for influencing humans during the wars between them and supernaturals. Many angels follow popular religions like Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, and many others, though they need not be religious as a rule. They are a disparate race, mostly keeping to smaller angel conclaves with similar beliefs, separated from other angel groups. Instead, they choose to immerse themselves in human culture, working their magic and might to spread the wonder of their beliefs.

Race Appearance:

An angel can take on many forms-- traditionally they will take on any set of looks that they believe will allow them to spread their influence the most. If appearing as a beautiful winged women with cascading hair will make your worship change, then that is how they will appear. The angel may decide to appear frightening, or powerful, or intelligent, using which ever traits needed to accomplish this. Often, they take on traits indicative of their cultural background and place of origin.

Basic Abilities

Divine Senses

While present on the mortal plane, all of the Angel’s senses are heightened to almost superhuman degrees. This also grants the Angel the ability to sense the presence of other supernatural beings around them, detecting whether they are mortal or not.

Judgement

The Angel possesses the ability to detect whether a being is ‘good’ or ‘evil’; this allows the Angel to glance at how many acts of evil the being has committed, though it does not specify exactly what was done.

Hallowed Armaments

Every Angel possesses a unique weapon that normally takes the form of their Halo when not in use. This weapon is considered a talisman against most supernatural creatures and can wound each of them.

Heaven's Light

All Angel’s can create and manipulate light to their will, summoning it forth from nothing. This light can be manipulated to do most anything at the whim of the Angel in question.

Touch of Grace

An Angel may tap into their own power to heal a living being upon touching them, imparting some of their own grace into that being. This does weaken the Angel some to use and only affects the living.

Divine Smite

The Angel has the ability to focus their holy power into a strike dealing more damage in that single strike than would normally happen. When this is applied it acts as if the weapon they use is a weakness to whatever they are hitting. (4/day)

General Abilities

General Weaknesses

Halo

If an Angel’s Halo is removed and taken, it gives whatever being that has it power over the Angel, making it so the Angel could not act against them. Additionally if the Halo is broken it can severely weaken said Angel.

True Name

Every Angel possesses a True Name that grants complete power over the Angel. Should another learn it, they could use it to command the Angel and additionally summon them as needed. To give a True Name to another is the ultimate sign of trust.

Binding Sigil

Every Angel has a specific Sigil that represents everything that they are; if the sigil is placed upon the ground, the Angel can be summoned into the sigil with a ritual. The sigil can also be used to bind them in place, confining them within the circle so long as it remains unbroken.

Racial Tidbits

Food

While on the mortal plane, the Angel is able to eat whatever they wish, though they do not gain any sustenance from said food.

For Good

There is danger for any angel who willingly inspires an act that violates their personal doctrine-- it cannot be committed without consequences. An angel who veers away from their teachings and defies their belief system has necessarily become 'corrupted' - turned to another way of thinking, in essence - and thus, has fallen. They will become a demon.

Prophetea

Historically, those with Prophetea were considered an oracle. Those with Prophetea can use any method they wish to divine the future. These are the individuals who are most likely to receive visions, or warnings,  of present or future events.

NOTE: When doing readings for other players, CONSENT is paramount.

The ONE exception to this rule is when those with this ability receive Storyteller visions regarding another player.

- All players with the Prophetea ability will receive visions from the storytellers at random times.

- In the case of Sim-wide plots, those with Prophetea may, upon receiving Storyteller visions, submit tickets for additional information in the form of visions.

- All those with Prophetea may request visions for individuals they are doing readings for from storytellers.

- All those with Prophetea should discuss the potentials of their reading with their partner– ask permission, and get details the player is comfortable with sharing in a scene. If you are struggling, seek out a Storyteller.
